Arch Manning’s Journey with the Texas Longhorns
Arch Manning has certainly shaken things up in the high school football scene, and, well, his last name adds a lot of weight to the expectations as he joins the Texas Longhorns. As discussions swirl among college football analysts regarding what Manning might bring to the team—possibly in his final college year—there’s also a sense of nostalgia and concern from his grandfather about the mounting pressure.
Archie Manning recently expressed some disappointment about the hype around his grandson. “They pretty much crowned Arch before he even started playing,” he said. “I didn’t think that was fair. Sure, it was a rough start, and let’s face it, we were up against a strong team.”
However, he added, “I couldn’t be prouder of Arch for how he persevered through last year and improved in the final part of the season.” It’s interesting how, even amidst high expectations, there are moments of struggle that can really define a player.
Looking ahead, with just a few months before the college football season kicks off, the excitement is palpable again. Many are anticipating that Arch will lead the Longhorns into the College Football Playoff and possibly set himself apart among other quarterback prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft.
In 2025, Manning achieved impressive stats, throwing for 3,163 yards and 26 touchdown passes. Those numbers speak volumes, really. But of course, the pressure continues.
The Longhorns will start their 2026 season on September 5 against Texas State. While many might see it as an easy game, the real challenge will come just a week later when they face Ohio State at home. Now that will be a game to watch.
