Sen. Blackburn Criticizes Biden Administration’s Operation Arctic Frost
Last Friday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) expressed strong disapproval of the Biden administration’s “Operation Arctic Frost,” arguing that it infringes on constitutional rights and legal standards in multiple ways.
The Senate Judiciary Committee disclosed findings from whistleblower testimony indicating that the Biden Justice Department monitored at least eight U.S. senators.
While speaking with guest host Kellyanne Conway, Blackburn was asked about the recent revelations regarding Operation Arctic Frost, particularly those tied to Jack Smith’s investigation. “What have you discovered this week?” Conway inquired.
In response, Blackburn explained, “There were 197 subpoenas issued against 430 individuals and entities. We now know that nine senators were affected, including myself. A left-leaning judge, James Boasberg, who was appointed by Obama, signed a subpoena for our phone records from January 2021. Unlike AT&T, my carrier, Verizon, complied with every call made to me, regardless of the caller. This represents a clear breach of the First and Fourth Amendments, as well as the Speech and Stored Communications Act.”
She continued, “Moreover, Judge Boasberg attached a confidentiality order, which prohibits the carrier from disclosing any details about the subpoena. The reasons given for this secrecy, such as risk of flight, witness intimidation, and evidence tampering, are entirely unreasonable. This highlights how politically weaponized the FBI and Department of Justice have become under Joe Biden. It all began with Chris Wray advising Merrick Garland against signing off on this initiative on April 4, 2022. The following day, Garland proceeded to endorse the formation of Arctic Frost. The ambiguous wording in that memorandum is worth reading closely. It raises a troubling question: If they can do this to nine sitting U.S. senators, what might they be doing to conservatives nationwide?
