Are aliens time-traveling future humans?

UFOs are not alien spacecraft, but time machines piloted by humans from the future.

This is a shocking thesis from Michael Masters, a professor of biological anthropology at Montana Tech University. According to Masters, who has spent years studying UFOs, these future humans may be traveling back in time to study their ancestors, i.e. us.

“One of the biggest misconceptions is the idea that hominid morphology is an evolutionary necessity on other planets.”

Instead of adorable little ETs looking for a ride home, you might end up dealing with distant relatives coming over for a family reunion. Get your guest room ready; things are about to get very strange.

Time travel?

Masters' idea isn't as far-fetched as it may seem. The concept of time travel, while still largely speculative, is taken seriously by many scientists. Modern physics, including quantum mechanics and Einstein's theory of relativity, show us that time may not be a straight line. Relativity tells us that time curves and stretches depending on speed and gravity, but some quantum theories suggest parallel timelines or even nonlinear time.

If these theories are correct, time travel could move from the realm of science fiction wildness to scientific reality.

How do we explain the distinctly “alien” appearances that emerge from the testimonies of people who claim to have encountered the occupants of these spaceships? The answer is simple: just turn to evolutionary science, Masters says.

He points out that many descriptions of these “alien” beings share features that humans would have evolved over time — larger skulls for bigger brains, less body hair, and a streamlined, androgynous build — that match visible trends in human evolution.

For example, the gradual decline of body hair and larger brains may become even more pronounced in the distant future. Testosterone levels in men are plummeting, as is sperm quality. Furthermore, given the possibility of advanced time travel technology, it would not be surprising if future humans would return to study their origins in the same way that we study ancient humans today.

The theory has generated a great deal of interest and, somewhat unexpectedly, a positive response among Masters' colleagues. Masters said: “The reaction from my colleagues was not what I expected; it was almost completely supportive.”

Masters recalled talking to the dean about his book, Specific Flying Objects: An Interdisciplinary Scientific Approach to the UFO Phenomenon. He expected criticism or even ridicule, but was pleasantly surprised by the response he got. The dean simply said, “That's our job. As scientists, we should ask those big questions.”

Unfortunately, finding such a chair in a university today seems much harder than searching for intelligent life in the universe.

Darwin meets the DeLorean

Masters' “extraterrestrial life theory” stands out from other conventional extraterrestrial hypotheses in that it is testable and falsifiable. In essence, whereas conventional hypotheses often rely on excessive speculation, Masters' theory tightly integrates the concepts of time travel and human evolution.

He argues that if UFOs are truly time machines, we would expect them to exhibit behavior consistent with being part of a time travel experiment: for example, these vehicles might appear and disappear in ways consistent with the notion of traveling through different dimensions or time frames.

One of the most compelling aspects of Masters' theory is his challenge to common misconceptions surrounding extraterrestrial life: Many people assume that extraterrestrial life is similar to us in some way, sharing basic anatomical features and biological functions.

Masters believes this assumption is wrong: “One of the biggest misconceptions is the idea that hominid morphology is an evolutionary necessity on other planets,” he said.

It is highly unlikely that extraterrestrial life would mimic certain human physical characteristics, such as having two eyes, a nose, or a mouth in the same place. The diversity of life on Earth alone shows that there are countless paths for evolution, making it unlikely that extraterrestrial life would evolve very similarly to humans.

“It's highly unlikely that extraterrestrial life would look anything like us, much less be a symmetrical five-toed quadruped with two stomach holes, two eyes, a nose and a mouth in the same place on the head,” Masters said. They might not even have heads.

meanwhile Recent Interviews Together with the brilliant podcaster Danny Jones, Masters has also explored how modern reproductive technologies such as IVF will impact human evolution.

While IVF has been hailed as a medical advancement, it has unintended consequences for our genetic future. IVF thwarts natural selection by allowing people to reproduce with genetic traits that might not survive naturally. This could accelerate certain evolutionary changes and make future humans look even more different from us.

Furthermore, Masters and Jones imagine a dystopian future in which a nuclear disaster confines humanity to isolated underground shelters. In this scenario, the surface world becomes uninhabitable, and survivors become extremely isolated and have a small gene pool. This isolation could lead to increased incest, creating a genetic bottleneck and causing unpredictable changes in human evolution.

When it comes to the debate about extraterrestrial life, Masters believes the simplest explanation is that these beings are actually humans of the future.

Essentially, the affable scholar concludes, “We know that we are here, and that we have been on a long, accelerating evolutionary trajectory on this planet.”

“In the context of Occam's razor, the simplest explanation, with the fewest assumptions, is that they are humans of the future, not an extraterrestrial civilization that just happened to come across us in the vastness of space.”

An advanced civilization close enough to Earth that it visits regularly and exists within the same cosmic billion-year timeline could well be our future. We can only imagine what they'd think of our gender reveal parties, overpriced lattes, grumpy cat memes, and obsession with Crocs. Maybe they see us as an adorable example of cosmic adolescence. Or maybe they're completely embarrassed.
