How a capsule carries eight passengers to space and back

The Neptune spacecraft will hang beneath a hydrogen balloon the size of a football field and carry the capsule to an altitude of 100,000 feet. Climbing to its height, the curvature of the Earth and the darkness of space can be seen with the naked eye. After a two-hour ascent, two hours of sightseeing, and two hours of slow descent, passengers float safely inside the capsule on ocean waves until they are picked up.

How the spacecraft Neptune ascends gently into space at 19 miles per hour

One of SpaceShip Neptune's distinguishing features is its use of space balloons, a technology that has been employed by NASA and other government agencies for decades. Unlike traditional rocket launches, which subject passengers to strong gravitational accelerations, the Neptune spacecraft will ascend gently at just 19 miles per hour. This would make it available to anyone who is medically fit to fly on a commercial airline, removing the physical barriers associated with space travel.
