Editorial Reaction to ICE Protests
Vince Collanese, editorial director at the Daily Caller, took aim at an anti-ICE protest during his show, “Vince,” after viewing a video where a group struggled to access a federal weapons locker.
This incident was shared by journalist Nick Souter, who captured the chaotic scene in Minneapolis. Collanese discussed the clear lack of insight exhibited by the protesters, noting how they not only exposed law enforcement operations but also attempted to break into federal vehicles. “They were trying to get weapons lockers out of these cars, but the whole thing was a mess,” he pointed out.
Collanese described how the mob used a truck to try and tow the lockers out, likening their behavior to that of a “herd of animals.” He expressed disbelief at their inability to simply unlock a box. “It’s locked, people. They’re jumping and kicking at it—are they really that clueless?” he questioned, suggesting that many involved seemed quite misinformed.
He humorously speculated that the “collective IQ” of the mob was below 100, maybe even “around room temperature.” Instead of opening the lockers, they resorted to smashing them with hammers and haphazardly tossing them aside.
Ultimately, it seemed they left empty-handed, as Collanese remarked, “They just gave up. They’re not the toughest crowd to deal with, nor the brightest. This could easily be handled.” Additionally, reports indicated that the rioters also vandalized and stole various equipment from federal vehicles during the protests. Another video showed them successfully opening some lockers.
Protests began on January 7 after an ICE officer fatally shot a woman during an incident involving a car chase. More unrest followed as reports emerged of an ICE officer shooting an undocumented immigrant during an ambush in the city.
Moreover, it was reported that both FBI and ICE agents were publicly identified during a YouTube livestream, with a woman displaying what she claimed were stolen documents from an ICE vehicle.
