Area of Angel Stadium closed due to rodent problem

The Los Angeles Angels are facing a tough start to their season, but it seems there’s more than just poor performance at play. Health officials recently reported evidence of a rodent infestation at Angel Stadium.

An inspection report from the Orange County Public Health Service, which was made public on Monday, revealed that on April 22 the concession area at View Level 432 was shut down after finding “rodent feces.”

Routine checks uncovered pest droppings in multiple spots, including areas adjacent to maintenance supplies, underneath storage racks, next to disposable supplies, near water heaters, and around maintenance sinks. Additionally, inspectors discovered “holes larger than 1/4 inch in the ceiling” that allowed pests access.

On the inspection date, the Angels, who currently hold a record of 12-17, faced off against the Blue Jays, winning 7-3 with 25,306 fans in attendance.

As a result of the findings, health officials suspended the concession stand’s operating license and mandated several actions, like eliminating all rodent activity using approved pest control methods, cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces, and sealing any large cracks to deter further infestations.

The closure remains in effect “until all circumstances justifying closure have been corrected,” according to the report.

The Angels expressed their commitment to providing a quality fan experience, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness at their roughly 160 concession stands. They indicated that, following health department guidance, they plan to swiftly address the issue and reopen the stand in time for their next home game.

As it stands, records indicate that the inspection process was completed successfully by June 25, 2025, with only minor issues like dirt buildup and leaking faucets reported during that visit.

This isn’t the first time health concerns have been raised at Angel Stadium. Back in 2007, records showed 118 pest violations at the venue since 2005. At that time, officials had promised to revise their cleaning protocols. By 2009, it was reported that those efforts had improved the situation.

The Angels are set to play against the Mets at home on Friday.
