Argentina’s Dramatic Comeback Against England
Argentina achieved yet another impressive comeback against England in the World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.
At the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, emotions ran high for both sets of fans. However, perhaps no one felt more conflicted than Kelsey Rose Bowers.
Bowers, a 22-year-old from England, previously played college soccer for the LSU Tigers and now plays as a defender for Bournemouth FC’s women’s team. Interestingly, she’s also in a relationship with Argentine defender Marcos Senesi, who was on the bench during the semi-final match.
Attending the game, Bowers expressed her mixed feelings about the outcome. In an Instagram post, she remarked, “Well, it just happened… Of course it was a crazy experience with lots of mixed emotions, I will never forget.” She shared a collage of photos, including a selfie with Senesi. Despite sitting in the Argentina section, her outfit—a black Adidas top with white pinstripes—seemed more neutral than team-specific.
Bowers felt a sense of pride for England’s journey and was thrilled for her partner’s achievement in reaching the World Cup final. She added, “See you in New York.”
As the excitement continues, one wonders if she’ll be more vocal about her support in the upcoming World Cup final, especially as there’s no indication she would cheer for Spain over Senesi’s team.
