In this week's edition of Fox News Sunday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) criticized the left-wing debate over efforts to curb the Trump administration's spending.
Ohio Republicans cite examples of media efforts to highlight cuts in national parks, calling it “pretty crazy.”
“But Americans say, 'Yes, I need to know what's going on with taxes. No, isn't I okay with something like this?” host Shannon Breem said. “Federal workers weren't the most sympathetic characters for many Americans, but now they're all wiped out the entire office, people are crying, they're totally uneasy and how their agency is I'm starting to hear that they don't know how they're doing with their institutions and will run.”
“Shannon, I grabbed this headline: After today's Washington Post story, the National Park of Chaos,” replied Jordan. “This is California National Park, the first paragraph. The Trump administration fired the only locksmith to staff. The following sentence: He was fired. He was fired. He was to save visitors from locked toilets. He was the only employee with the necessary keys and institutional knowledge. Well, if that's not – that is, is that the best thing you can do? The real problem is how visitors lock themselves in the toilet. It's about being able to do it. So this is how ridiculous some of this is.”
“So, there may have been a few mistakes, but I think the strength and focus on removing unnecessary spending,” he continued. “Is there anyone who can unlock someone who's trapped in a national park toilet? This is ridiculous. So I think the argument you're looking at from the left is pretty crazy. When you think about it, Ah, we spend money on the crazy things of transcomic opera everywhere. I mean, come on, yes.”
