Arizona’s Indictment of Trump Allies Is ‘Election Interference’

Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-Okla.) accused Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays, who prosecuted Mark Meadows and other Trump supporters, of “blatant interference in the 2024 election.”

Brecheen’s letter to Mays, which also included Rep. Troy Neals (R-Texas) and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), was charged with questioning the results of the 2020 election. They demanded that the lawsuit against Meadows and other conservative activists be dropped.

On May 24, an Arizona grand jury indicted Meadows along with several other associates of former President Donald Trump, including Trump’s lawyer and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward, for allegedly contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“All Americans have the right to free speech, including the right to question election results,” the letter, obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, says. “Your choice to prosecute Americans for expressing their constitutional rights represents machine politics at its worst, and we will take every step Congress can take to correct your decision. ”

“Not only is this a violation of the First Amendment, but it is blatant interference in the 2024 election,” they continued.

The Arizona indictment was based on a Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll. carried out The poll, conducted April 8-15, found President Joe Biden trailing President Trump by more than 6 points in several key battleground states, including Arizona. .

In Arizona, Mr. Trump led by 7 points and received 49% support from voters who indicated they intended to vote for Mr. Trump, compared to 42% for Mr. Biden.

Brecheen and others wrote that the indictment “relies on a shaky legal framework and is inherently malicious.” They detail each of their “unfounded accusations” in the letter below.

“Clearly your intention is not to obey the law, but to start a political witch hunt,” they wrote.

In a video posted last month, Mays argued that the indictment was filed after “the period necessary to thoroughly finalize the details of a case that began nearly four years ago.” She said, “The judiciary is seeking answers for the efforts allegedly undertaken by the defendants and other unindicted co-conspirators to undermine the will of Arizona voters during the 2020 presidential election.”

Republicans argue in the letter that Trump is clearly the unindicted co-conspirator.

Brecheen’s letter comes as Trump’s Manhattan trial over business records begins to wind down. Prosecutor’s case takes a hit during cross-examination of honorary witness Michael Cohen as disgraced former lawyer Admitted As Fox News reported, tens of thousands of dollars were stolen from the Trump Organization on Monday.

The defense finished arguments on Tuesday, and closing arguments are scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th. Mr. Niels attended Tuesday’s hearing to show support for Mr. Trump, as many of Mr. Trump’s supporters have done in recent weeks.

Trump has been targeted by what he and his allies call “legislation” in Biden’s Justice Department and other liberal jurisdictions across the country, mostly in states run by Democrats. More than a dozen lawsuits have been filed to keep Trump from voting. But those efforts have failed, and Mr. Trump continues to steadily climb in the polls against Mr. Biden.

Brecheen, Nehls and Biggs vowed to continue their legal fight against Trump in Congress and asked Mays to drop the “frivolous lawsuit” by June 1. This is to correct abuse of power. ”
