Two sisters from Arkansas are looking for financial support after their involvement in an incident involving the destruction of a memorial for Charlie Kirk.
Kerri, 23, and Kaylee Rollo, 22, initiated a Gofundme campaign last week, hoping to raise $18,000 for legal expenses following their arrests a few days prior.
Kaylee mentioned on the fundraising page that both she and her brother have been targeted online, and her brother lost his job as a result. She expressed concerns that their rights have been infringed upon.
In a video that circulated online, Kelly, Kerri’s sister, reportedly recorded themselves damaging the memorial by toppling candles and verbally expressing their disdain.
“F-K Charlie Kirk,” Kelly yelled in the video while gesturing in a provocative manner. “Every movie you want,” she added, indicating a lack of remorse.
Law enforcement became aware of the footage, leading to the sisters’ arrest on September 17.
Post-arrest, Kelly was terminated from her position at an Arkansas restaurant, while Kaylee faced a breakup, reportedly resulting in her being kicked out of her home.
A local justice official commented on the incident, noting that while free expression is valuable, defacing a memorial crosses a line, turning a personal act of grief into a public spectacle.
“You are not only trampling on their freedom of expression; you are trampling on people’s memories and the values of our community,” he stated.
It seems the sisters are realizing the difficulties stemming from their actions. As of Wednesday afternoon, they had raised about $15,000, though much of that may come from less-than-sincere donations.
In connection with Charlie Kirk’s tragic death on September 10 at Utah Valley University, Tyler Robinson, 22, has been identified as the suspect. Charges against him include aggravated murder and other serious offenses.
- Robinson allegedly fired the fatal shot during a public event.
- Trump and others have called for severe penalties for the suspect.
- Kirk’s funeral is scheduled for September 21, with notable attendance expected.
- Kirk, who leaves behind a wife and two young children, has drawn national attention regarding the circumstances of his death.
As for the sisters, they now face serious charges of first-degree criminal mischief, each released on bonds totaling $22,500.
