Arman Tsarukyan Ignites Brawl After Wrestling Match
UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan recently caused quite a stir following a wrestling match. On Saturday, he faced off against Giorgio Poulas in Real American Freestyle. After the bout, Tsarukyan pushed Poulas to the ground and started throwing punches.
This led to chaos as team members rushed onto the mat, resulting in a quick melee.
The situation escalated further as a fight erupted in the audience, according to reports.
Colby Covington, a three-time UFC title challenger, stepped in and guided Poulas backstage while fans chanted “USA” to show support.
Interestingly, during the match, Poulas had slapped Tsarukyan on the head, which Tsarukyan later admitted had gotten under his skin. He even alluded to his feelings about the incident on social media, posting, “Look around and find out.”
Another UFC lightweight, Terrance McKinney, humorously noted that Tsarukyan seemed to react as if he had been attacked. Former UFC Welterweight Champion Belal Muhammad chimed in too, saying it made sense for the other fighter’s behavior to be perceived as dirty.
Online, a video surfaced showcasing the moments leading up to the brawl, with Tsarukyan being slapped and shoved during the match.
Tsarukyan is on a five-fight win streak in the UFC since his decision loss to Mateusz Gamrot in mid-2022. He has notched two knockouts and a submission in recent fights, including a highlight performance against Dan Hooker last November, where he secured a one-arm triangle choke in the second round.
This recent match marked his first MMA fight in over a year and a half. Looking ahead, there’s buzz about a potential title fight against champion Ilya Topria, though nothing is officially set yet.
