A New Mexico homeowner shot and killed an intruder who allegedly broke into his home early Tuesday morning, Bernalillo County deputies announced. told KOB-TV.
The department said around 3:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of an intruder at a home near Lost Horizon Drive in West Mesa. This area is part of Albuquerque.
“That’s why we have the Second Amendment!!!”
The homeowner reported shooting at the intruder, the sheriff's office told KOB.
Arriving officers found the alleged intruder with serious injuries and attempted life-saving measures, the department said.
Medics transported the suspect to a hospital, where he died, KOB reported.
Detectives from the sheriff's office, which specializes in violent crimes and homicides, are investigating the incident, the department said.
