Armed Man Kills Shotgun-Wielding Ex-Doctor While Trying To Serve Her Papers, Police Say

Police say an armed man fatally shot an armed woman Tuesday afternoon while he and another individual were at her home to serve paperwork in West Seattle, Washington.

Patrol officers responding to reports received just after 1:00 p.m. of a shooting found the woman, 57, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her torso, according to a statement the Seattle Police Department (SPD) released Tuesday.

The officers rendered aid before the arrival of the Seattle Fire Department but were unsuccessful. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A KING 5 News report identified the victim as Tamara Towers Parry, 57, a former medical doctor at Swedish Health Services (SHS) in Seattle.

Homicide detectives found out that the alleged shooter was one of two people who arrived at the woman’s home to serve paperwork, the SPD said Wednesday in an update.

The woman “exited the home and presented a shotgun. One of the subjects, a 40-year-old male, fired his handgun, shooting the woman in the torso,” according to the SPD’s statement. “The two subjects are cooperating with the investigation and all firearms were recovered.”

No law enforcement agency was part of the original incident, nor have any arrests been made, the SPD revealed. The investigation is ongoing. (RELATED: REPORT: FBI Agents Raid Home, Ex-Judge Inside Kills Himself)

Such an incident “could always turn into something like this … It can be a pretty tense situation,” Seattle police spokesperson Det. Brian Pritchard told KING 5.

“With something like this, the detectives would interview them, get all of the facts and it appears they determined there wouldn’t be an arrest at this time, it all depends on what’s said in those interviews,” Pritchard added.

Parry was going through eviction proceedings at the time of the incident after her home was foreclosed and auctioned off Sep. 20, according to The Seattle Times.

Pritchard told The Seattle Times that the men who visited Parry’s residence to serve paperwork were neither law enforcement agents nor were they there to evict Parry. He did not elaborate.

Parry partook in both the Jan. 6, 2021, White House rally as a member of “Doctors for Trump” and the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol Building, according to KING 5, which cited Parry’s deleted social media account.

Parry also was seen online bearing a Q-Anon flag, according to KING 5.

The SHS told KING 5 that Parry had not been affiliated with the hospital since May 2015.

Parry reportedly lost her medical license in 2022.
