Armed robbers pose as delivery drivers, raid Colorado family home

Armed robbers posing as delivery men broke into a Colorado family’s home, assaulted their two children and their babysitter, and ransacked the house’s jewelry while the horrified parents could only watch on their doorbell camera.

The brazen home invasion, caught on camera, took place around 8:45pm on June 12th in the 4100 block of South Litchfield Street in Aurora, Colorado.

One of the suspects was wearing a high visibility vest and carrying a box and stood at the door waiting for someone to answer.

“They were wearing construction vests and claimed to be there to deliver a package. The suspects held the package and waited for the homeowner to open the door.” This was announced by the Aurora Police Department. “The suspect then broke in and robbed the family.”

At the time, there was a 6-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl and a caretaker in the home. According to KDVR.

The parents were not home at the time but immediately called 911 when they saw armed men at their front door.

The front door opened slightly and a man in a vest pushed his way in, shouting in Spanish to alert two other men who ran to the door.

One of the suspects, appearing to have a gun in his gloved right hand, ran into the house while a third masked man wearing a black balaclava fled from a vehicle parked outside.

According to the media, screams and screams were picked up by the camera’s microphone as three unidentified men looted the house, mainly personal belongings such as jewellery and cash.

After assaulting the home for just a minute, the three suspects jumped into a car and drove off down the road.

The terrified mother wasn’t concerned about the “stolen items” as they could be replaced, but worried about the trauma her children would suffer during the robbery.

The distraught parents told the media that the suspects pushed the boy and his guardian to the ground during the break-in and also engaged in inappropriate behaviour towards the girl.

The boy was visibly shaken and screamed as paramedics treated his injuries.

Police believe it may have been a targeted attack as the family runs a business out of their home.

It also offered some steps homeowners can take to keep themselves safe.

Packages generally do not require a signature or physical receipt of the package.

Keep in mind that delivery drivers usually wear branded uniforms.

You may also want to consider alternative delivery options, such as having your mail collected from a PO box or selecting a “hold for pickup” option.
