Armed Salvadoran Immigrant Taken Into Custody at Texas Home Depot Parking Lot

Houston Task Force Operation

HOUSTON, Texas — A federal multi-agency task force conducted a raid in a Home Depot parking lot located in southeast Houston and came across an armed Salvadoran immigrant who was in the country illegally. For over a decade, there have been reports on unvetted illegal immigrants frequenting hardware store parking lots to find day labor opportunities.

Update: 1:45 p.m.: Officials from ICE clarified that the Home Depot parking lot wasn’t the focus of the operation executed yesterday. Instead, police were conducting targeted enforcement against known criminal aliens in the area. As the officers passed by the hardware store en route to the specific alien’s location, numerous individuals began to flee, which warranted their intervention.

During this operation, officers detained around 40 illegal immigrants within the Home Depot parking lot. More details about the arrests are expected to be shared later.

Previously, ICE officials mentioned to local sources that law enforcement did not aim for Home Depot lots due to safety concerns for those they encountered.

The original story follows:

Over the weekend, Breitbart Texas collaborated with ICE and CBP agents in the same area where the recent removal took place. Ben Bergkam from Real American Voices joined the task force during this operation, which resulted in about 120 illegal immigrants being detained.

In a video posted by Bergkam, he approached the scene where investigators uncovered a small handgun in the pocket of an undocumented Salvadoran. It’s illegal for undocumented individuals to possess weapons.

Bergkam pointed out that he observed American citizens seeking work in parking lots, stating, “Now he doesn’t have to compete with illegal actors.” He emphasized that illegal immigrants compete for many jobs in the country and often affect low-income communities more heavily. If there was genuine concern for low-income Americans, he noted, then support for deportations would follow.

The involvement of special agents from the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service shows that the current administration is adopting a comprehensive approach to mass deportation efforts. Agents are actively tracking and taking action against illegal immigrants taking jobs from American citizens.

ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations executes hundreds of detentions daily in the Houston area. Acting Deputy Chief Larry Adams shared that around 80% of those arrested have criminal backgrounds, including serious felonies such as murder, aggravated assault, and drug trafficking.

Utilizing advanced software linked to various federal and state databases, officers can efficiently target high-crime areas. Adams indicated that they identified about 800 potential targets within just a one-mile radius during their operations.

He explained that the technology helps pinpoint areas with high crime and population density, allowing officers to categorize individuals by their criminal activity or even origin. By pinpointing these areas and selecting offenders based on severity, the task force is able to execute targeted operations, detaining and deporting dangerous criminals from the country.
