Armie Hammer Compares Hollywood Fallout to Being Crucified
In a recent interview, Armie Hammer spoke about his experiences after being ousted from Hollywood, likening it to a form of crucifixion. His career took a sharp downturn in 2021 when allegations of sexual assault and disturbing fantasies, including references to cannibalism, surfaced.
Hammer faced serious accusations, notably from an ex-girlfriend who claimed he raped her for hours. These revelations led to a swift cancellation of his projects and left him banned from the industry. Allegations further escalated when texts detailing violent and aggressive sexual desires were leaked online.
Although the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed in April 2023 that the investigation was active, they ultimately decided against filing charges due to insufficient evidence.
Reflecting on the turmoil, Hammer described a moment when his father urged him to confront his accusers vigorously. “He was furious,” Hammer recalled, noting how his father’s instinct was to fight back. However, Hammer felt resigned, saying, “I’m already on the cross. The nails are in my hands.” He realized that fighting harder would only prolong his suffering.
As the interview progressed, he shared his journey towards acceptance. “What you resist persists. What you embrace changes,” he pointed out, emphasizing the need to focus on his own growth rather than the chaos around him. He admitted to initially being absorbed by the public discourse surrounding him but eventually recognized its futility, suggesting that he needed to prioritize his health and family.
Taking accountability for the mess, Hammer stated, “These problems are of my own making… I brought very dangerous and unsafe people into my life.” He expressed regret over how he managed his relationships and admitted wishing he had navigated things differently.
As for his personal life, Hammer’s divorce from Elizabeth Chambers was finalized in 2023, following a tumultuous few years marked by the public’s scrutiny of his actions.
