Army helicopter crash lands in Alabama

Two Army pilots in training escaped with minor injuries after a helicopter crash in Alabama on Friday, military officials said.

Dale County Fort Novosel confirmed in a news release that two crew members were conducting flight training aboard the UH-72 Lakota helicopter that crashed in Pike County around 2:35 p.m. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash scene in a wooded area near the town of Banks.

No one was killed and no one on the ground was injured. The pilots were treated for minor injuries.

The base said the aircraft was damaged, but no damage to property on the ground was reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
