The fourth signature event of the 2024 PGA Tour season is here, and it will be held at one of the sport’s most iconic venues.
Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida is home to 27 of the top 30 players in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), and this week will bring together some of the world’s best players.
That includes Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele, all currently ranked in the top five.
Scheffler, Schauffele and Hovland last played at the Genesis Invitational, and McIlroy played at last week’s Cognizant Classic. The Northern Irishman finished tied for 21st place despite leading in strokes gained off the tee.
Other big names in the field this week include reigning US Open champion Windham Clark, Max Homa and Ludwig Oberg.
Fresh off his historic victory at Riviera, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Hideki Matsuyama will also compete for the red cardigan sweater given to the winner.
Other notable players include Min Woo Lee and Austin Eckroat, who qualified for the Arnold Palmer Invitational through Aon Swing 5 and Aon Next 10.
Tournament officials granted sponsor exemptions to Nikolaj Hujgaard, Adam Scott, Shane Lowry and Webb Simpson, allowing them to participate.
A total of 69 players will be competing this week. Of the 70 players eligible to play, Tony Finau was the only one chosen to play in Ernie’s place. Finau tied for 24th at Bay Hill last year, his best finish in his fifth race at Bay Hill.
