Arnold Schwarzenegger Advocates for Responsible Immigration

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently emphasized the importance of immigrants acting responsibly upon arriving in the U.S., urging them to navigate the legal pathways available. He believes that being a good guest in America involves adhering to laws and contributing positively to the community.

“There’s a rich history with American immigrants, but it’s crucial that everything is done legally. That’s the bottom line,” Schwarzenegger stated. He added that it’s vital to focus on positive actions—like making meaningful contributions to society—rather than engaging in illegal activities.

During a discussion, he was questioned about his role in Los Angeles and the potential deployment of the National Guard if he were still in office. Schwarzenegger responded, highlighting that as an immigrant, there’s a responsibility to give back to the country, whether through community service, after-school programs, or similar initiatives.

Amid the conversation, co-host Sunny Hostin defended immigrants, saying they statistically commit fewer crimes than American-born citizens. Schwarzenegger agreed on the need for comprehensive immigration reform, suggesting that both political parties must collaborate to efficiently tackle the issue.

He pointed out a frustrating pattern: “This all stems from the lack of reform. If politicians truly want to serve the public, they need to put their ideologies aside and genuinely address this.” His comments came in the midst of ongoing debates about immigration and national stability.

Schwarzenegger expressed concern that the portrayal of Los Angeles in the media contributes to an exaggerated perception of chaos, stating, “The media tends to create a narrative that frames the city as a war zone. In reality, only a tiny fraction of the population is involved in trouble, yet the coverage can be alarmist.” He reaffirmed his alignment with the late-night host Jimmy Kimmel during a separate appearance, critiquing the rhetoric surrounding immigration-related protests and actions.
