About 100 protesters were arrested at Northeastern University Saturday morning during a pro-Palestinian protest, the university said.

Massachusetts State Police began arresting non-student protesters and taking control of some camps early Saturday.
“What began as a student demonstration two days ago was infiltrated by professional organizers with no connection to Northeastern University,” the school said in a statement. Saturday’s statement on social media platform X.
“Approximately 100 people were detained by police as part of clearing the scene,” the school said in a statement.
The university said that “students who present a valid Northeastern ID will be released” and that “internal disciplinary proceedings, rather than legal action,” will be pursued.
“Those who refused to disclose their affiliation were arrested,” the school added.
Northeastern University is one of many universities across the country that has dealt with pro-Palestinian protests on campus, with students protesting the Israel-Hamas war and demanding the school disclose its investments.
The school said it had taken steps to clear the protest encampment after the protest included a “vicious anti-Semitic slur.”
“We cannot tolerate this type of hatred on our campus,” the school said in a statement.
The student group Huskies for a Free Palestine, which is leading the protests, said on Saturday that the administration had “quickly provided a false narrative” about the encampment.
“We are here because our universities refuse to even address the devastating humanitarian crisis caused by the genocide against Palestinians,” the group said. Said On Instagram. “The Northeast refuses to sever ties with arms manufacturers that do business with the Israeli military.”

Northeastern University said in an update that Centennial Common is “completely safe” and campus operations have returned to “normal.”
