Who doesn’t deserve to be in the England squad? Can Arsenal avenge last season’s loss to United at the Emirates Stadium? Will Alessia Russo score against her old club? Will we see a tap of the badge, or will coach Mark Skinner’s side shock the record-setting home crowd into silence?
So many questions! So much is at stake! Do not miss!
Sarina Wiegman named her first England squad for 2024 this week, with one key returnee and one significant absentee.
Captain Leah Williamson has already returned to Arsenal’s first-team squad, making her return to the team for the first time in 10 months. Williamson has impressed Jonas Eidevall’s side in her return from an anterior cruciate ligament injury and Wiegmann is confident she will return to camp soon. “It’s really great, especially for her,” the England manager said. She is back, getting minutes at Arsenal and continuing her good form. They are happy with her current situation and will be happy to see her back in camp next week.
“She’s a very good player, we’ve seen that too. Even though she’s been out for a number of months and she’s still in her development stage, her decision-making is really good. The team stepped up [without her] But I’m glad she came back. ”
On the other hand, Nikita Paris, who is in good form, was left out. The forward has scored seven goals in six games since the start of the year, but Wiegman suggests he needs to maintain consistency for the remainder of the season. He added: “Of course, the competition up front was very strong and I couldn’t play as much in the fall. Because of the competition, we made a different decision. Currently, since the new year, she is in the number 9 position. She’s been playing and doing very well. Of course we were aware of that too. So I talked to her a little bit and we’re talking about her again, so she’s I hope we show consistency.”
Leah Williamson has been removed from Arsenal’s match-day squad due to a “minor hamstring injury”, the club have announced. Amanda Illestedt was also absent due to illness.
Jonas Aidewall made a dramatic switch in attack heading into this afternoon’s game. Black Stenius will replace Russo in the number nine position, while Lacasse will start on the left in place of Ford. Mead maintains his position on the opposite wing. Arsenal’s manager seems to have set up his team with the goal of attacking with tempo and exploiting the space behind Manchester United’s defence, but will it really work?
What do you think, Arsenal fans?

preamble
Hello Hello. Welcome to our coverage of today’s historic WSL clash between Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Champions League-chasing pair will face off this afternoon in front of a packed Emirates Stadium crowd. For the first time in WSL history, Arsenal will completely sell out the 60,704-seat stadium, meaning a new attendance record will be set in North London.
Both teams are aiming for the same goal at this point in the season: Champions League qualification. As usual, only the top three WSL teams qualify for European football, with Chelsea and Manchester City expected to occupy two spots, with Arsenal and United likely to battle it out for third place. Highly sexual.
A win today would put Jonas Aidevall’s men seven points behind Manchester United, but a win for Mark Skinner and his players would reduce the gap to just one.
Kickoff is at 12:30pm Japan time.
