Sources close to Artyom Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia are speaking out following the “Dancing with the Stars” pro's recent arrest on domestic violence charges.
According to reports, friends of the couple said they knew the marriage had been “rocky” for some time and were not at all surprised to see Garcia and Chigvintsev in the news this week.
insider He told TMZ She said it was “shocking but not shocking” to learn the details of the arrest, including that Garcia allegedly threw a shoe at her husband during an argument.
The 42-year-old professional dancer was arrested Thursday morning in Napa Valley, California, on suspicion of felony corporal injury.
Police said the victim had asked for “complete confidentiality” but that “arrests were made at the scene” and that “injuries were reported.”
Chigvintsev was released on $25,000 bail Thursday afternoon.
Paramedics were called to Chigvintsev and Garcia's home shortly before the arrests, but the call was cancelled as ambulance and fire services were on the way.
The arrest came just days after the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary.
Garcia posted an Instagram Reels video of the couple and their 4-year-old son, Matteo, with the lyrics to Elvis Presley's “Can't Help Falling in Love” as the caption.
“This song is our love story,” she captioned the Instagram video. “I'll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. The conversation with him and God. How I felt so fast. How it all felt so fast. And then this song started.”
“I knew at that moment that I was in love with him and it was all meant to be,” the WWE superstar concluded.
Chigvintsev and Garcia met on Season 25 of “DWTS” and began a romantic relationship in early 2019. Chigvintsev proposed to Garcia the following year.
The two got married in Paris in 2022.
Prior to their romance, Garcia was engaged to John Cena, but the relationship ended when Cena didn't want children.
