Aryna Sabalenka seems to have moved on from her Wimbledon experience. After her exit from the tournament, where she lost to Naomi Osaka in the round of 16, the world’s top-ranked women’s singles tennis player took a trip to Greece with her fiancé, Georgios Frangulis.
The 28-year-old shared numerous snapshots on Instagram, showcasing a vacation filled with sun, water, and a lot of swimwear. In one picture, she and Frangulis, who is 37, shared a sweet moment aboard a boat with a kiss.
“Dress code = 👙,” she humorously captioned her post.
In another post, Sabalenka depicted the beauty of her “paradise” getaway with images of sunset dinners and drinks, along with a stylish outfit showcase. One of the more playful photos featured a morning fruit platter with a sign reading, “Welcome Champions!”
This vacation seems to be a well-deserved break for Sabalenka, especially considering her recent challenges. Her relationship with Frangulis dates back to April 2024, although it initially lasted only a month. The tragic passing of her ex-girlfriend, Konstantin Koltsov, in March 2024, deeply affected her.
In March, the couple got engaged in a picturesque outdoor setting decorated with pink flowers and candles, revealing a stunning 12-carat oval-cut diamond ring.
Clearly, this trip holds significant value for Sabalenka. She’s in a critical phase of her hard court season and is still in pursuit of her first Grand Slam title this year. After narrowly missing out in Australia, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon, she faces a nuanced journey ahead.
Elena Rybakina, currently ranked second in the world, defeated Sabalenka on Australia’s hard courts, marking her second consecutive finals loss. Additionally, the Belarusian was unable to secure a finals spot at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, majors that remain absent from her accolades.
After facing these setbacks, Sabalenka experienced severe depression, openly expressing thoughts of wanting to quit tennis and escape into a different life.
Looking forward, she enters the US Open as the two-time defending champion, hoping to clinch her title for a third consecutive year.
