Goodbye, “Oakland” Mr. A.
The Athletics have officially dropped Oakland from their name, making sure everyone knows what the ball club wants to be called.
In a memo Monday, the team clarified how people should refer to themselves, writing, “When referring to the team name, please use only 'Athletic's.” You can use “A” for the second reference. ” The Athletic reported.
The A's logo will still be “A's” so it will look similar, but it will be green.
Surprisingly, the team will not incorporate California into its new name after leaving the Bay Area after 57 years in Oakland.
The Athletics will move to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento next season, as they will be based at their Triple-A ballpark until their new home in Las Vegas is ready.
The Athletics' pilgrimage to Las Vegas has been long in the planning and will take at least three more years to complete, forcing the team to find a temporary home in California's capital.
The Athletics had called Oakland their home since 1968, after playing in Philadelphia (1901-1954) and Kansas City (1955-67).

The Athletics are planning to build a new stadium on the site of Las Vegas. Tropicana Casino since demolished.
It looks like A's fans who travel to Sacramento next season will have a chance to see one of the team's lone bright spots: outfielder/designated hitter Brent Rooker.
General Manager David Forst He told The Post's Jon Heyman. “We intend to maintain that.'' [Rooker]”
He hit .293/.365/.562 with 39 home runs and was an All-Star in 2023.
