Ashley Biden describes summer 2025 as one of the toughest times following her divorce and her father's cancer.

Ashley Biden Reflects on a Challenging Summer

Ashley Biden, the daughter of former President Joe Biden and Jill Biden, shared her thoughts on social media, describing this summer as “one of the most intense summers of my life.” This commentary follows a particularly difficult time marked by her brother’s divorce and their father’s cancer diagnosis.

In her post, she mentioned, “August 2025. Summer 2025 was a whirlwind for me. As I prepare for fall—my favorite season—I feel a sense of readiness for what’s next.” She expressed gratitude for the support from friends and family, reflecting on the time spent processing her emotions and finding healing. “I am thankful for the peace I’ve found amidst the changes, along with renewed strength and love for myself,” she added. She wrapped up with a nod to the August full moon, saying “#Sturgeonmoon2025.”

Recently, Ashley Biden also shared a photo that included her ex-husband, Howard Kellin, alongside another woman. Her Instagram story captured this moment, captioned “My Husband and His Girlfriend Holding Hands,” set against the backdrop of a well-known song.

Reportedly, this image was posted just hours before she filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage. In the divorce filing, she claimed that their relationship was “irreparably broken,” and sought support from Kellin while the process unfolded.

Ashley married Dr. Howard Kellin in 2012, blending their different religious backgrounds during their wedding reception at the Biden family lake home. At the 2024 Democratic National Convention, she recalled her father’s involvement in planning her wedding, recalling fond memories of him as both a father and a vice president.

This past May, it was made public that Joe Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. His team noted that while this represented a more severe illness, it could still be managed effectively. In a poignant post around the same time, Ashley reflected on her feelings, emphasizing hope despite the turmoil: “My heart is painful, but full of hope.”

These events illustrate the complexities of familial relationships and personal challenges, showcasing a blend of vulnerability and resilience in Ashley Biden’s recent narrative.
