Reports indicate that Ashley Biden, the daughter of President Joe Biden, has filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage. The 44-year-old shared an Instagram story aligned with the playing of Beyoncé’s “Freedom,” where she can be seen walking through a park and giving thumbs up.
In her post, Biden added a quote about new beginnings and boundaries, which references Lauryn Hill’s “Over Freedom Time.” She has been married to Howard Kellin, a plastic surgeon, since 2012. According to People Magazine, their wedding took place in Greenville, Delaware, blending her Catholic faith with his Jewish traditions, followed by a reception at the Biden family’s Lake Wilmington home.
In a past discussion about her wedding, Biden mentioned how her father actively participated in the preparations. “I kept telling Ash, we have to open the church and practice walking up and down the aisle. This is the right guy,” President Biden reportedly said. They met through the late Beau Biden and began dating in 2010. Last year, she introduced her father at the Democratic National Convention, reminiscing about their wedding day.
Reflecting on the event, Biden remarked on how emotional her father was while helping set up for the reception. “He literally set up the entire reception, was on a John Deere 4 Wheeler, fixed the location settings and arranged the plants,” she noted. Additionally, she shared a tender moment where he told her just before walking her down the aisle that he would always be her best friend, a sentiment she still cherishes.
