Shedale Sanders wasn’t the only one experiencing rookie pranks on draft night.
Ashton Jeanty, a new Raiders rookie, shared an unexpected twist related to a prank call claiming he had been traded to the Cowboys.
In an interview with Fansided, Jeanty recounted receiving a call shortly after being selected sixth overall by the Raiders. Someone impersonating a Cowboys representative informed him about this so-called trade, saying that the Boise star was traded from Las Vegas to Dallas.
Jeanty found the call amusing, simply hung up, and laughed it off.
This isn’t just an isolated event. Several NFL prospects have been receiving prank calls during the draft process.
“Some guys called me and said, ‘We just had a deal with the Raiders; you’re going to the Cowboys,’” Jeanty recalled. “So, I just called a friend.”
Jeanty wasn’t alone in this.

Other prospects like Sanders, Mason Graham, Tyler Warren, and Abdul Carter also reported prank calls over the weekend during the NFL Draft.
In related news, the NFL fined the Falcons $250,000 after it was revealed that defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich’s son, Jax, was behind one of the prank calls.
Meanwhile, Jeanty continues to be part of the Raiders’ plans, under the guidance of new head coach Pete Carroll and franchise quarterback Geno Smith.
Jeanty, who was the Heisman runner-up in the 2024 college football season, rushed for an impressive 2,601 yards last year, scoring a total of 30 touchdowns.
