Astronomer CEO Andy Byron Appears on Kiss Cam at Coldplay Concert and Steps Down

Astronomer CEO Resigns Following Viral Incident at Concert

Andy Byron, the CEO of Astronomer, has stepped down from his role just days after a video appeared online, showing him embracing the HR leader during a Coldplay concert.

In a statement shared on social media, the company said, “Astronomers are committed to our core values and culture since our inception, and our leaders are expected to uphold these standards in both behavior and accountability. Andy Byron has submitted his resignation, which the board has accepted.”

Pete DeJoy, the co-founder and chief product officer, has stepped in as interim CEO, while Byron remains listed on the company’s board of directors.

The incident took place during a Coldplay concert in Boston, where Byron and Chief Human Resources Officer Christine Cabot were reportedly caught on the venue’s Kiss Cam. A video captured the moment, showing Byron appearing to hug Cabot as lead singer Chris Martin commented, “Oh, look at these two.” Cabot quickly hid her face in response, prompting Martin to joke, “Oh, what… they’re cheating on you, you’re so shy!”

As the footage circulated on social media, many viewers attempted to identify the people at the concert. Initially, some suggested that another woman in the video was Alyssa Stoddard, an Astronomer employee, but the company confirmed that she was not there.

Following the incident, Astronomer announced that a formal investigation had been initiated by the board.

In a subsequent statement, the company acknowledged a shift in public perception based on recent events. They emphasized that despite this setback, their commitment to innovation in the DataOps field remains steadfast. “Before this week, we were recognized as pioneers, with our data team addressing various analytics and AI challenges. While our public image may have changed, our products and dedication to our customers have not,” they assured.

As of Saturday, neither Byron nor Cabot had issued any statements regarding the incident.
