Astros confident in retaining star Alex Bregman

Astros general manager Dana Brown said he has had multiple conversations about free agent third baseman Alex Bregman, saying, “I think we have a really good chance.”

But what we can say for now is that nothing is coming close.

Bregman could be a good fit for either the Yankees or the Mets, as he showed up big in the second half to open up opportunities. Bregman's free agency got a boost when another hitter, Matt Chapman, was acquired by the Giants for a six-year, $151 million deal.

Athletics GM David Forst has put an end to speculation that star OFB Brent Rooker will be traded. “We intend to maintain [Rooker]”

The Blue Jays are open to moving Vlad Guerrero Jr. from first base to third base, which could free up a slot for Pete Alonso.

The Phillies are looking to add hitters and fill out the bullpen (star relievers Carlos Estevez and Jeff Hoffman are free agents). However, it is said that it is unlikely that Bryce Harper will follow Alonso back into the outfield. Harper transitioned to 1B very well.

Shohei Ohtani's uncharacteristic World Series performance (.105 batting average) was probably due to shoulder pain that was worse than expected. The Dodgers announced that he underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum caused by a dislocation, rather than a subluxation as originally announced.

His teammates have to love him for playing in that.

Mark Vientos was supposed to be a Silver Slugger finalist. Don't blame the writer. It wasn't our call.
