Astros had another moment on road vs. Mets that I cannot stop thinking is destiny

of Houston Astros They’re going to win the World Series, that’s a fact.

Be angry if you want, but I am merely a messenger delivering this very important information. Let’s just say that fate smiled upon them just as it did the last time they held up that coveted piece of metal.

Confused? I get it.

The Astros beat the Mets on the road on June 29th, which was huge.

To be honest, I am a Houston Astros fan. Dallas Cowboys At SB Nation ( Blog Boys Being called the GOAT upsets people. Admittedly, last year’s ALCS was very awkward for me. This is who I am and I hope you guys will accept me. Otherwise (I don’t have any other ideas).

I loved the 2022 Houston Astros because they won the World Series. That season was such a prestigious, great sport in every way. A big part of the journey was the summer trip to New York and the road series against both teams. Yankees and Mets.

At the time, New York teams were the most dominant in baseball, and I had a lot of fun tweeting about the Astros’ relatively unscathed sweep of Queens and the Bronx. Also, as I tweeted, remember that on Houston’s tour of New York, Cristian Javier’s team pitched a no-hitter and then repeated the feat against Houston in the World Series. Phillies.

This will be June 29, 2022.

Why is that day so important? I’m glad you asked.

Wednesday, June 29, 2022, was the final day of the Astros-Mets series and it was a very boring game. I remember it well.

But why do I remember it so well? Because in the top of the ninth inning, Jason Castro hit a two-run homer to score the first run of the game. Houston won, 2-0, and Castro sat out the rest of the season. My friend finished the game in epic style.

As we all know, the Astros won the World Series that year against the Phillies. Beating Philadelphia was significant because it ended Houston’s inability to beat a NL East team in the playoffs (World Series). In 2019, the Astros lost to Philadelphia. Washington Nationals And in 2021 Atlanta Braves…The National League East was in a terrible state, and it was Castro’s home run against the Mets that first burst the dam.

I know this is silly, but these things are super important in sports and basically determine history. These are the rules, I didn’t make them up. The road win against the Mets on June 29 was a key catalyst for the Astros that season.

This will be June 29, 2024.

You may remember that last week the Yankees and Mets faced off in the latest edition of the Subway Series. Both New York teams are in good form, so while the match isn’t as tense as it was two years ago, they are still relatively popular teams in MLB cities.

The Astros came to Queens last weekend on a seven-game winning streak, reaching .500 for the first time this season (LOL), and were on a roll, so a loss on Friday night was not a big deal considering it was before the All-Star break.

Houston and New York met on Saturday, June 29th, with the Astros looking to win but unfortunately losing early and looking pretty grim. That’s when what was clearly Jason Castro’s moment of the year and an undeniable sports madness happened.

Going into the top of the eighth, the Astros were down 6-4 and two games below .500. It was a tough game. Jake Myers and Jeremy Peña both got on base with walks, but then Chas McCormick and Mauricio Dubon couldn’t do anything, and the pressure was on. Jake and Jeremy both advanced, putting runners on second and third.

That’s where My New Guy Trey Cabbage comes in. Pinch-hitter at key moments, Cabbage needed to do something special to keep this fight going.

Have you ever wondered why certain things happen in sports? They’re not surprising, they’re ridiculous.

With a full count, Cabbage called it a ball, but the umpire counted it improperly. Seriously. It’s 2024 and they’re making mistakes with their counts. He called it ball 3 by mistake.

Cambage naturally got to first base, and soon after, a wild pitch sent Jake Myers home to cut the lead to 1. Jose Altuve walked to load the bases again, and then Alex Bregman came back to score. Houston extended its lead in the top of the ninth, giving it even more room to maneuver and bringing its winning percentage back up to .500 on the season.

Baseball is notorious for producing some wild and crazy events, but these two events happened on the same day, in the exact same place on Earth, between the same two teams. What fate!

In case you’re still not convinced…what if I told you that this year’s 2024 win at Citi Field (against Trey Cabbage) was the first game the Astros have won there since Jason Castro’s 2022 game there?

The Houston Astros will win the World Series again.
