The New York Yankees seem to think they're doing everything they can to recover from the loss of Juan Soto.

However, their rivals, the Houston Astros, seem to think that perhaps their best player is undervalued.

It has been revealed that the Astros intend to trade Kyle Tucker this offseason as he enters his final year of control. The left-handed slugger will be making a lot of money this time next year.

With Soto leaving for Queens, the Yankees need to fill a hole in the outfield and are eyeing Tucker.

The two sides have reportedly held talks, but the distance between them appears to be far.

According to NJ.com, the Astros believe the Yankees offered the three-time All-Star “a piece of crap.”

“I spoke with Astros front office personnel and was told the Yankees aren't offering anything the Astros want,” NJ.com's Randy Miller wrote Thursday. “Nothing. They think the Yankees gave them crap.”

Executives Miller interviewed said the Yankees were only offering low-level prospects.

The Astros apparently want a package with current Rookie of the Year Lewis Gil.

Houston is also in talks with the Chicago Cubs for outfielder Seiya Suzuki and infielder Isaac Paredes.

MLB's winter meetings have ended, but there are still about 10 weeks until spring training begins. There's plenty of time.

The Yankees signed Max Fried to an eight-year, $218 million contract, making it the richest contract ever given to a left-handed pitcher.

If the Yankees acquire Tucker, it wouldn't be the first time they've traded for a left-handed outfielder entering his contract year. That's what they did against Soto last year.
