BERLIN (AP) — At least 23 people were injured when two gondolas on a Ferris wheel caught fire at a music festival near Leipzig in eastern Germany, the DPA news agency reported Sunday.
Police said the fire started in one gondola and spread to a second one on Saturday night. Four people suffered burns and one injury from a fall. Other crew members, including paramedics and at least four police officers, would be examined in hospital for possible smoke inhalation, the DPA news agency said.
The incident happened at the Highfield Festival at Lake Stromthaler near Leipzig. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

As of Sunday morning, police had not yet provided specific details about the condition of those injured, and the exact number of dead and injured was not yet known, according to the DPA news agency.
The wheel’s operator told DPA that there were no passengers in the gondola where the fire broke out.
