In Chicago, led by Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson, at least seven people were shot, two of them fatally, over a five-hour period on Sunday morning.
Route 9 Reported The first of the two fatal shootings occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street. Officers responded to the scene and found a 38-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second fatal shooting occurred just 30 minutes later in the 4600 block of West Monroe Avenue. Police responding to that incident found a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the back. He died at the scene.
Five other people were injured in the shooting, which took place between about 12:45 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
ABC7 No. 7 attention As of July 7, 2024, Chicago had experienced approximately 1,200 shootings that year.
W.T.W. pointed out Twenty-nine people were shot in Chicago over Labor Day weekend alone, six of whom died from their injuries. Breitbart News reported that four of the six shooting deaths occurred on commuter trains on Labor Day morning.
