At Least 87 Shot By Sunday Morning of July 4th Weekend

In Chicago, run by Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson, at least 87 people had been shot, 16 of them fatally, by Sunday morning over the Fourth of July weekend.

Breitbart News reported that at least 58 people were shot in the city between Wednesday night and Friday night, just before the holiday weekend.

The violence was so intense that ABC 7/ Chicago Sun-Times It pointed out One Chicago resident dubbed the Fourth of July “Assassination Day.”

By Sunday morning, the total number of shooting victims was at least 87.

ABC7 / Chicago Sun-Times I got it. Many of the incidents involved multiple shooters, including drive-by shootings (an unknown number of shooters). Several incidents were described as “mass shootings” that resulted in multiple deaths.

Metropolitan Peace Initiative Director Vaughn Bryant commented on the violence: “This is our city. As citizens, we are responsible for everything that happens in our city. We can’t complain that there’s no business or something isn’t happening when we’re not making the areas safe for our businesses to thrive.”

“The guns have to stop. I can’t go out at night. I’m scared to go out at night because I might get shot,” said Chicago resident Raul Perez.

The Emergency Services Assistance Center will open Tuesday to provide support to area residents getting through Chicago’s holiday weekend.
