'Atheist Antisemite' Charged with Stabbing Older Jewish Woman in Ottawa

Allegations Against Anti-Semitic Individual Following Stabbing Incident

A 71-year-old man has been accused of stabbing an elderly Jewish woman at a grocery store in Ottawa. Joseph Luke, described as a self-identified anti-Semitic atheist, is facing charges for wielding and possessing a dangerous weapon during the incident at Robrows, located in a prominent kosher food area of the city.

Police are treating the stabbing as potentially motivated by hate and are investigating Luke’s online activity. Reports indicate he has a history of expressing anti-religious and anti-Jewish sentiments. It’s noted that he has openly acknowledged his anti-Semitism, stating, “Yes, I am an anti-Semitic and an atheist.”

In one of his social media posts, Luke made claims regarding Jews and their perceived influence over various institutions, stating: “As time passed, Jews became sidious about governments, businesses, media conglomerates and educational institutions.”

He also asserted, “I have no legal, moral or otherwise obligation to do not like Jews,” further showcasing his controversial views.

Previously, Luke’s online comments had revolved around religious criticism, wherein he expressed that all religions suffer from “ignorance and unsupervisory,” arguing that the only distinction among them is branding, naming Christianity, Islam, and others as part of the “nonsense.”

Luke has been particularly vocal about rebranding Christmas as “Human Day” and launched a legal challenge against the Canadian judicial system, indicating bias due to judges pledging allegiance to a deity in their oath of office.

The Jewish woman who was stabbed has since been released from the hospital. Luke is currently in custody and is scheduled for a court appearance related to the incident that occurred on September 2nd.
