The attorney representing the sole holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial has responded to accusations that his client disregarded the law. He stated during an interview with Kayleigh McEnany on “Fox & Friends” that the juror, Michael P. Desronvil, was certain about his stance throughout the trial.
In a preview of the interview set to be broadcast Monday, McEnany questioned attorney Edward Paltzik about whether Desronvil experienced any reasonable doubt after the jury foreperson reported him for allegedly not adhering to the law surrounding reasonable doubt. Paltzik emphatically replied, “Michael had zero doubt.”
McEnany followed up, asking if Desronvil had any evidence to support his decision. Paltzik affirmed, stating, “A lot of evidence. A mountain of evidence.”
Desronvil was the only member of the jury to dissent after a week of deliberations. While eleven jurors were inclined to find Clancy not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children, Desronvil stood firm for a guilty verdict. The judge ultimately declared a mistrial on September 4.
Clancy, who admitted to killing her five-year-old daughter Cora, three-year-old son Dawson, and eight-month-old son Callan in January 2023 at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, claimed that she was not criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis. The prosecution argued that Clancy was fully aware of her actions and that she had premeditated the killings.
Desronvil has stated that he believed the physical evidence and witness accounts indicated Clancy knew what she was doing. At this point, prosecutors have not made a decision about whether they will pursue a retrial, with Clancy expected back in court on September 29.
