Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, the university announced Friday.

“Coach Freeze was recently diagnosed with early prostate cancer,” the statement said. “Thankfully, it was detected early and his doctor advised it was highly treatable and treatable. Auburn officials also shared Freeze's hope that his health battles will serve as a reminder to receive health screenings every year.
“Coach Freeze is extremely grateful to our healthcare professionals and urged him to use his experience to remind us of the importance of prioritizing and scheduling annual health checks,” the statement said.

Auburn finished with a 6-6 regular season record under the Freeze in 2023 before losing in the Music City Bowl. The Tigers didn't improve much at the helm in the Freeze's second season, finishing with a 5-7 record.
