AUD/USD Price Outlook: Monitoring the 0.7150 level and nine-day EMA

Australian Dollar stabilizes after China's Services PMI report

After a slight dip the day before, the AUD/USD pair rose a bit, sitting around 0.7130 during Thursday’s Asian session. Analyzing the daily chart suggests the pair is moving sideways in a rectangular formation. This pattern indicates a sort of stalemate—neither buyers nor sellers seem to have the upper hand.

Currently, the AUD/USD pair is just above its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA). However, the 9-day EMA continues to act as a cap. While there is some limitation on the upside, the overall trend remains neutral for now.

The 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovers around 46, hinting at a waning bullish momentum. It seems likely that the pair will hold steady unless there’s a significant breakout from this narrow range of moving averages.

On the short-term horizon, the pair may encounter a barrier at the 9-day EMA, which sits at 0.7153. A breakout above this average could signal a bullish trend, allowing the pair to test higher levels, potentially reaching the upper limit of the rectangular pattern near 0.7270, followed by 0.7277, which is the highest point since June 2022, recorded earlier on May 6th.

For support, immediate assistance can be found at the 50-day EMA around 0.7127. Lower down, the rectangle’s lower boundary rests near 0.7070. If the decline continues, the 0.6833 level—representing a four-month low from March 30th—may come into play.
