Whoopi Goldberg Advocates for Radical Democratic Candidates

During a recent episode of The View, host Whoopi Goldberg emphasized the importance of uniting to elect Democrats against President Donald Trump, regardless of how radical any particular candidate might be.

In a Thursday discussion, the panel expressed concerns that the Democratic Party may attempt to sideline more progressive figures for the 2028 presidential election. This included mention of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is seen as a prominent candidate. However, Goldberg stated that she isn’t concerned about who runs, as long as they work to eliminate Trumpism from Washington, D.C.

“Please, please, you may be right about the Democratic Party, I don’t know, but I tell you, we need to recalibrate what’s going on,” she remarked after fellow panelists discussed the future landscape for Democrats in the upcoming race.

Sunny Hostin, another host, chimed in with, “Swing the ship to the right,” which prompted Goldberg’s agreement. “Right now. We have to fix the ship,” she added.

This rallying cry was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Goldberg wasn’t alone in her call for supporting more radical Democrats. Earlier in the show, Hostin brought up the need to “flip” Congress.

“Let’s be honest, we need to talk about the midterm elections. That’s where our focus should be. We need to get this country back on track. A net gain of just four seats will allow Democrats to take the Senate majority, and that’s what should be on our minds—not 2028,” she explained.

It’s yet another day on The View where the message is clear: support for radical Democratic candidates is a recurring theme. This is somewhat ironic considering ABC previously labeled the show a “bona fide news program” amidst criticisms of its content. Yet, the show tends to lean heavily left.

Interestingly, the FCC appears to be uncertain about the show’s classification as newsworthy. They’re reportedly investigating allegations that The View may have breached equal time regulations by favoring Democratic and left-leaning guests.
