Authorities responded to an incident involving Kiefer Sutherland, who is accused of physically assaulting a rideshare driver. The initial dispatch call was made around 12:15 a.m. on January 12. The caller, described as wearing a “white jacket, blue jeans, and brown sneakers,” mentioned running away from someone believed to be Sutherland.
A few minutes later, a follow-up call confirmed that the suspect was no longer pursuing the individual who reported the incident. An official noted, “The suspect is no longer following PR and is now in the back of PR’s car, a black SUV. No more.”
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers arrived at the scene after a report of an assault near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue at the same time. They discovered that the suspect, identified as Kiefer Sutherland, had entered the rideshare vehicle, assaulted the driver, and allegedly made threatening remarks.
Sutherland, 59, was arrested on January 12 and later released on $50,000 bail. Officials indicated that the rideshare driver did not require any medical attention for injuries sustained during the encounter, and the investigation is ongoing.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Sutherland has encountered legal issues. In May 2009, he faced charges for third-degree assault after an altercation with designer Jack McCollough post-Met Gala, which they later publicly resolved.
