An audio recording has emerged where a police dispatcher informs officers that Michigan Wolverines football coach Sherrone Moore was “stalking” a woman and had unlawfully entered her home.
The dispatcher’s details were based on a 911 call from the woman in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It’s reported that she has ties to the school’s football program.
In the recording, the dispatcher relays that the woman indicated the man who intruded had been stalking her for several months.
Police responded to the location, discovering it was the residence of a long-time employee who served as an executive assistant to the head coach. Following this incident, Coach Moore was ultimately let go due to inappropriate conduct with another staff member.
It remains unclear whether the woman discussed in the dispatch call is the same individual with whom Moore is alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship.
Reports confirmed on Wednesday that Moore was fired from his role.
“Sherrone Moore has been terminated for cause, effective immediately,” stated Michigan athletic director Ward Manuel. “The University’s investigation found credible evidence that Coach Moore engaged in inappropriate behavior with a staff member, violating University policy, which will not be tolerated.”
Moore, who is 39, has three daughters with his wife Kelly; they married in 2015.
After Jim Harbaugh stepped down to coach the Los Angeles Chargers at the start of the 2024 season, Moore was promoted to head coach. However, just hours after his termination, he was arrested by the Pittsfield Township Police Department and charged with assault.
During 2024, the Wolverines finished with an 8-5 record under Moore, and in his first complete season, they went 9-3. He was suspended for two games in 2025 over a sign-stealing controversy.
