President Biden appeared to hesitate frequently while responding to questions from advisors regarding the confidential documents he kept at home in 2023. Recent audio from the interview has surfaced, reported by Axios.
During the session, the former president seemed to have difficulty recalling details from his vice presidency, memories related to his son’s death, and specific dates tied to President Trump’s initial election.
Last year, a transcript from Robert Herr’s special two-day interview was disclosed, but the Biden administration opted not to share the audio recordings. Herr ultimately decided against filing accusations against Biden in the classified document matter, characterizing him as “a well-meaning older man with flawed recollections.”
Earlier, Trump mentioned that it would be up to Attorney General Pam Bondy to determine if a tape from two years ago of the interview would be made public.
A forthcoming book titled “Original Sin: Original Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice,” co-authored by Jake Tapper of CNN and Alex Thompson of Axios, raises additional questions about Biden’s decline as he nears the end of his current term and embarks on a campaign for reelection.
“Look, everybody knows the state he’s in,” Trump said in the audio released Friday. “I know individuals who are in perfect shape at ages 89, 90, 92, 93. But Joe… well, he’s not one of them, and there’s a lot of concealment happening. They are really playing the system.”
