Employees at a Texas pizzeria are facing prison or the death penalty for an alleged would-be thief who beat a boy with a gun during a violent scuffle after demanding the restaurant's cash. I asked if it was desirable.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Richard Curtis, put a gun in the employee's waistband, and the employee grabbed him and choked him, before another employee called police.

The manager grabbed a gun from the boy's pants and tried to shoot the alleged assailant, but when the gun wouldn't fire, he used the handle of the weapon to cut him in the face, according to the affidavit.

As he waited for Austin police to arrive, Curtis reportedly said “jail” and stopped fighting.

One employee suffered a head injury during the scuffle and was treated for it, the newspaper said.

Curtis was charged with aggravated robbery.
