The gamble pays off! Litchfield started walking before UltraEdge confirmed the ball brushed the glove on its way through to Amy Jones. That’s a big wicket for England – mainly because Litchfield was looking so good but also because it means they still have a review.

As expected, the legspinner Georgia Wareham replaces Darcie Brown in the Australia XI. England are unchanged; Heather Knight says Kate Cross was “pretty close” to playing.

The deciding game of a series isn’t always the decisive one. Australia can’t officially retain the Ashes tonight, but realistically it will be a done deal if they win the third ODI in Hobart. A series that has been criticised for being too compressed is in danger of becoming an anticlimactic waste of time.

main events
7 overs: Australia 31-2 (Healy 7, Mooney 4) England have no slips. This reflects Hobart's pitch being a bit sticky and stagnant. Just before his dismissal, Perry mistimed his lofted drive and went wide, only to clear just over mid-on.
New batsman Beth Mooney starts off with a two-two on the leg side.
Wicket! Australia 27-2 (Perry C Filer B Bell 2)
Gotter! Perry flicks Bell in the corner and goes straight to Filer with a short fine leg. As Mitch Stark says on commentary, it's not how Bell was supposed to get Perry, but she doesn't care one bit.
6 overs: Australia 25-1 (Healy 7, Perry 0) Filer defeated Healy with a nice attack, probably using a cutter. One step forward, one step back. The next ball is too short, so I emphasize it and draw four. Healy played that shot very well.
Speeding up to 126mph, Filer hit four consecutive dot balls wide to Healy.
5 overs: Australia 19-1 (Healy 3, Perry 0) Bell starts wide, but the rest of the over is very accurate and only costs one. Healy has been restrained so far, hitting three off nine pitches. She was content to play second fiddle to Litchfield, but now she might start chasing Lauren Filer. That being said, the pitch is very slow and doesn't seem particularly suited for stroke play.
4 overs: Australia 17-1 (Healy 2, Perry 0) Well, it ended on an eventful note. The beautiful straight drive through Litchfield feels like 30 minutes ago.
Perry isn't in it! There are no reviews in the UK. Perry pushed on Filer's wide pass but missed by an inch or two. I think England did a review based on unfair noise. I don't know what it was, but either way Heather Knight's captaincy wasn't great.
England representative Ellyse Perry match! This is becoming a DRSfest. Heather Knight went up top with about half a second left.
Wicket! Australia 17-1 (Litchfield C Jones B Filer 15)
The gamble pays off! Litchfield started walking, but UltraEdge saw the ball graze Amy Jones' glove on the way to her. This is a big wicket for England. Mainly because Litchfield seemed to be doing well, but it also means there's still some evaluation to be done.
3.2 overs: Australia 17-0 (Litchfield 15, Healy 2) It was a brilliant stroke from Litchfield, hitting four into the ground with perfect timing.
When Lichfield tries to pull it, England appeal for a catch on the leg side. Reviewed by Heather Knight. This is a big gamble as England only have one left.
3rd over: Australia 12-0 (Litchfield 11, Healy 1) Litchfield clips Bell during a walk. just On square legs for 4 people. Capsy was stretching as hard as she could, but she couldn't reach that far.
Bell responded with a beautiful slow ball over the edge. However, Lichfield looked dangerous and ended the over with a brilliant drive over mid-off for another four.
2 overs: Australia 3-0 (Litchfield 3, Healy 0) Lauren Filer shares her new ball. She is expensive so far with almost 6 overs. England cannot afford that in what looks like a relatively low-scoring game today. Filer got off to a very good start, hitting full lengths and allowing Litchfield only a few runs.
1 over: Australia 1-0 (Litchfield 1, Healy 0) I don't know if Heather Knight would have reviewed it if it had been anyone other than Healy. She was a little reluctant, but Jones talked her into it.
Healy isn't in it! She tried to pull on the outside of her leg stump but failed, and Amy Jones was convinced it hit her glove. There was a noise, but technology confirmed it hit Healy's shirt and not his glove.
Review of England who came from behind in the match against Healy! My hunch is correct, but who cares about my hunch?
The players are ready. Lauren Bell, who bowled with panache in the first two ODIs, will be speaking.
Lauren Bell chats with TNT Sports
We were able to get a lot out of these two games. Both games were close. I've learned some new skills over the past 12 months and have had to work really hard to make them consistent. I think I'm getting paid now.
we have certainly been here before [in the 2023 Ashes]. Australia are a great team and I hope we can do the same. We know what went a little bit wrong in the last two games, so we just have to reset and start over.
It's a beautiful day with a golden sun and blue sky.

Australia wins in toss and bat
“The wicket looks a little dry so it could get hard later on,” says Alyssa Healy. This was a used pitch and England would have also batted first. I feel like it's a really good toss to win.
England defeated on spin in Melbourne We have more to deal with today. Hobart's pitch is drier than expected and Australia may bring back Georgia Wareham in place of Darcy Brown. England's Kate Cross is due to undergo a fitness test this morning. If she passes it, one would expect her to replace Lauren Filer.
