‘Australian censorship commissar’ orders X to globally remove video of Islamic terror attack on Christian bishop

A bearded teenager who complained in Arabic about insults to Muhammad stormed the sanctuary of an Assyrian Orthodox church in Sydney last week and brutally murdered Bishop Mar Mari Emanuel and a priest. Isaac Royle. Australian authorities have determined that there was an attack on a Christian clergyman. caught on videoIt was a religiously motivated act of terrorism.

The Australian government appears willing to admit that the attack was caught on video, but is attempting to remove the video evidence from social media.

X, formerly known as Twitter, revealed on Friday that the Australian government had ordered it to remove video evidence of anti-Christian attacks. While the platform appeared to be prepared to respond regionally to Australia’s eSafety Commissioner, that was clearly not enough for the state of Australia, which has since called for worldwide censorship of the video.

South African billionaire Elon Musk and his company have effectively told the government to pound sand.

terrorist attack

Blaze News previously reported that police were called to Christ the Good Shepherd Church in the Sydney suburb of Wakeley on Monday night after reports of “multiple people being stabbed”.

A 16-year-old extremist, who had previously been charged with knife-related offenses, stormed into the altar with a knife hidden in his hand.

In the video, which the Australian government appears keen to hide from the public, the attacker can reportedly be heard saying: [the bishop] He didn’t involve me in my religion. If he hadn’t told me about my prophet, I wouldn’t have come here. …If he had only talked about his religion, I wouldn’t have come. ”

The gunman attacked Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, a former critic of Islamic extremism, and stabbed the 53-year-old bishop repeatedly.

The bishop and the parish priest who was hacked to protect him escaped injury.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said on Tuesday: “We believe there is a satisfactory element of religiously motivated extremism.”

“After reviewing all the material, I declare it a terrorist incident,” Webb added.

X’s World Government Affairs Team
revealed On Friday morning after the attack, the Australian eSafety Commissioner ordered X to remove certain posts in Australia that publicly commented on recent attacks on Christian bishops. does not violate the rules.”

Australia’s woke commissioner is an American named Julie Inman-Grant. He is said to have turned down a CIA job to serve in the US Congress before taking a job at Microsoft. The censor who worked at Twitter as director of public policy in Australia also

Mr Grant said last week that he was personally “not satisfied that enough is being done to protect Australians from this most extreme, gratuitous and violent content circulating online”. Ta.

Seeking satisfaction on the matter, Grant said he was “campaigning.” [her] Under the Online Safety Act, we are officially authorized to enforce takedowns. ”

Although X believed that “eSafety’s order was not within the ambit of Australian law,” it initially complied with the order and geo-blocked related content in Australia until a legal challenge was filed. However, it appears that the company has since demanded a global ban on these posts or face a daily fine of 785,000 Australian dollars (approximately 500,000 US dollars).

The Global Government Affairs team said: “While X respects the rights of countries to enforce their laws within their jurisdictions, the eSafety Commissioner has no control over what content X users can view around the world. “We do not have the authority to direct … a worldwide removal order is a violation.” The very principles of a free and open internet are being violated and free speech everywhere is threatened. ”

Musk said: “Australia’s censors are calling for a *global* content ban!”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese
Said The reporters said: “By and large, people have responded appropriately to the eSafety Commissioner’s call. X has chosen not to do so. I think they are standing by. I think it’s unusual that he chose that.”

Albanon suggested that video evidence of attacks on Christian clergy constituted “misinformation.”

“I know Australians want misinformation and disinformation to stop, but I think overwhelmingly. This is not about freedom of expression,” the prime minister said. “This is about the dangerous effects that can occur when something that is simply not true, and that everyone knows is not true, is replicated and weaponized to cause division. The case is intended to promote negative statements and simply inflame what was potentially true.”

“Social media has a social responsibility,” Albanese added.

Musk responded on Monday.
write“I would like to take a moment to thank the Prime Minister for letting the people know that this platform is the only truth.”

Big names in the technology world I got it. “It’s ridiculous for one country to try to censor the entire world,” he said.

The prime minister appears not to be the only Australian official who thought the video evidence constituted a “false alarm”.

NSWPF Commissioner Mr Webb condemned “misinformation” and said: “I think leading a social media platform should come with great social and corporate responsibility.”

“I think if there are images like that online, they shouldn’t be left there, they should be removed immediately,” Webb added.

Australian Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek
was suggested Elon Musk’s commitment to free speech and transparency is simply “incredible.”

“This selfish billionaire thinks it’s more important to be able to express whatever he wants on X or Twitter or whatever we call it now than respecting victims of crime. “It’s more important that we do what we want, to protect the Australian community from the fallout from publishing this horrible thing on social media,” Mr Plibersek said.

Mr Plibersek was keen to point out how Australia had quadrupled the eSafety Commissioner’s budget.

The increased budget led to the appointment of Australian mother and breastfeeding advocate Jasmine Sussex as Secretary-General.

Australian court calls for global censorship

An Australian judge ruled on Monday, significantly exceeding his jurisdiction, that X must block the video worldwide.

Associated Press
report Judge Jeffrey Kennett said he asked the tech companies to block all users, including sovereign American citizens, from viewing the footage. X was given 24 hours to “hide” the video.

Stephen Tran, a lawyer for the censorship board, suggested that continuing to circulate the footage would cause “irreparable harm.”

Meanwhile, Australia’s censorship system targets individuals who share videos. For example, popular X user Ian Miles Cheong
shown X said he received a report from the Australian government regarding the content he shared, but the platform would not take action.
