Australian MMA Fighter Dies from Rare Muscle Condition at 21

The 21-year-old Australian MMA fighter died less than two weeks into the fight in a rare muscle condition caused by intense training.

Jake Sendler, 21, was hospitalized on March 2, suffered from what he was later diagnosed with striated muscle lysis, and was diagnosed with direct or indirect muscle damage and skeletal muscle breakdown by effort. If not treated immediately, this condition can lead to kidney damage.

Eleven days after being hospitalized, Sendler passed away.

Jake's mother, Sharon Sendler, says her son experienced pain and discoloration in the urine muscles leading up to the fight, but he thought it was dehydration.

“He sold 60 tickets to his family and friends and came to see him,” Shallone said. I said news.com.au.

Despite concerns, Sendler cleared the medical screen and was given a green light to fight. Sendler went on to complete the three rounds, but was exhausted and had to be helped from the ring. After the examination, the doctor determined that Sendler's kidney damage was too big to recover.

“When we entered the ICU, the doctor opened him again (in another emergency surgery), there was too much tissue left dead, so much damage and nothing more,” Sharone said.

She said to him, “I told him, 'It's okay, you can rest now, you fought so hard,” and I kissed him on the forehead and he passed away. It was the worst moment of my life. ”

The GoFundMe campaign was launched to help raise awareness of rare conditions and support funeral costs for families.

“As preparations for the upcoming battle, Jake unwittingly pushed through the worsening symptoms. He continued to train, work and coach, not realising that his body was closed. To his surprise, his organs finally stepped into the ring to get courage and demonstrated incredible determination and strength.

“He then deteriorated rapidly, leading to emergency hospitalization and multiple organ failure.
