Australian PM Declares Love for Kylie Minogue

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has expressed his admiration for Kylie Minogue, whom he affectionately refers to as the country’s own “Princess of Pop.”

In a recent episode of Nova’s podcast Bush Deep, host Nicky Osbourne engaged the Prime Minister in a light-hearted conversation at a lodge in Canberra. Their chat, which was accompanied by a bottle of whisky, covered a range of topics—everything from Albanese’s WhatsApp exchanges with world leaders to his candid views on being leader of the opposition, a role he described as a “challenging job.”

During the interview, Osbourne and Albanese played a playful game of “Shag, Marry or Date.” The showdown featured Australian celebrities, asking the Prime Minister to choose between Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, and Rhonda Birchmore.

After a brief pause, Albanese attempted to tread lightly, noting that he has been married for just six months. However, Osbourne pressed him further, asking, “But what if things get better?” Without missing a beat, Albanese declared, “Kylie, obviously.”

Osbourne then cheekily probed for specifics: “Will you marry Kylie? Shag her? And date her?” To which Albanese could only chuckle and say, “That’s all. She’s wonderful.”

In the meantime, Osbourne has garnered a substantial following online, with her new series featuring additional interviews with personalities like Larry Emdur and Manu Feildel.

On another note, Albanese recently made headlines with his proposal for Australia to be the first nation to expand its ban on social media for those under 16. This initiative follows evidence suggesting that kids are still accessing major platforms even after age restrictions were established.

While speaking in parliament, Albanese also drew attention with his vivid language regarding online safety, raising concerns about algorithms leading users to extreme ideologies. He stated, “We know that algorithms are driving people to increasingly extreme positions.”

He elaborated on the potential harms of these algorithms, referencing troubling trends in hospital admissions for young women and the alarming normalization of extreme behaviors among young men.

The Prime Minister’s choice of words sparked confusion and reactions on social media, with some users questioning the appropriateness of his comments. Responses ranged from disbelief to shock, with one user exclaiming, “Albo shouldn’t bring up ‘anal fissures’ in Congress.”

As mixed reactions continue to surface, it’s clear that Albanese’s remarks have resonated—though perhaps not in the way he intended.
