Authorities on Saturday arrested a suspect who shot and killed several people in Pennsylvania after an hours-long standoff in New Jersey, according to multiple reports.
Police arrested 26-year-old Andre Gordon near a home in Trenton, New Jersey, on Saturday morning, about eight hours after he was accused of killing three people in the Philadelphia suburb of Falls Township. according to To the Associated Press. Gordon is believed to have shot and killed three people in Pennsylvania, then stole his vehicle and fled to Trenton, where he then barricaded himself in a Trenton residence during a standoff with law enforcement officers. Trenton Mayor Reid Gusciora said authorities arrested Gordon without incident as he was walking down the street “two blocks away” from a home where he was believed to be barricaded. according to On CNN. Trenton Police Chief Steve Wilson said Gordon appears to have left the Trenton residence at some point before police cordoned off the area, according to CNN.
“However, it appears that the suspect was able to surreptitiously escape from the location before the perimeter was completed. However, our information was that he was still there.” Wilson said, CNN reported. “The suspect was actually walking down New York Street,” Wilson said. “He was stopped, his identity was determined and he was taken into custody.”
According to the Associated Press, Gordon is suspected of shooting and killing his stepmother, sister and the mother of his children.
Gordon is suspected of killing her sister and stepmother just before 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, authorities said at a news conference Saturday afternoon. He then allegedly moved to another property in Falls Township, killed the mother of his two children, then stole a car and fled to Trenton, according to the Associated Press.
Gordon was initially believed to have taken hostages and barricaded himself in Trenton, but reports have since surfaced indicating that police were able to rescue several people who were at the residence at the time.
