Reward Offered for Missing Virginia Coach
Nearly two weeks after a Virginia high school football coach, Travis L. Turner, seemingly vanished during a child pornography investigation, federal authorities have announced a $5,000 reward for information that could lead to his arrest.
Turner, 46, is considered dangerous—federal officials have noted he “may be armed.” He was last seen on November 20, walking into a wooded area behind his home while carrying a firearm. The U.S. Marshals Service has issued a cautionary notice for those who might encounter him.
Authorities have charged Turner with ten counts: five for possession of child pornography and five for using a computer to solicit a minor. These warrants were filed the week prior to his disappearance.
Initially reported missing on November 21, local law enforcement was already on their way to his home in Appalachia to discuss the ongoing investigation when he was reported missing. Interestingly, officers had visited his residence the day before but had not made any arrests.
As for the search efforts, the Virginia State Police (VSP) have called for assistance from both the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service. They are conducting searches with K-9 units, drones, and foot patrols to locate him.
A family attorney indicated that the last communication from Turner occurred on November 20, just before he went into the woods with his firearm. Concerned when he didn’t return that night, his wife reported him missing the following day.
Alongside the investigations, Turner’s wife recently deleted her social media profiles. Just days prior, she had been posting about his achievements during an undefeated season, sharing numerous family photos.
Authorities have confirmed that Turner is on administrative leave from his position as the football coach at Union High School in Wise County, Virginia, following the revelation of the allegations against him.
Turner was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants, along with glasses. Anyone with information is urged to report it to local authorities or the U.S. Marshals Service tip line.
