Authorities arrest undocumented immigrants charged with voting in competitive states during a crackdown on fraud.

EXCLUSIVE: Recently obtained footage shows federal agents conducting a sweep related to a multi-state investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ). This probe has led to criminal charges against individuals for illegal voting, falsifying citizenship, and various election-related offenses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Wisconsin.

The charges are part of a broader initiative by the Trump administration aimed at addressing election crimes ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Over the last year, the Justice Department has lodged lawsuits against nearly 30 states to obtain confidential voter lists, while also redirecting the focus of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)—traditionally concentrated on issues like drug trafficking and terrorism—toward identifying unlawfully registered non-citizens.

“Despite what some media outlets and Democrats might claim, evidence of non-citizens registering to vote is accumulating,” stated a White House spokesperson. “Any non-citizen found to be voting will face accountability. American elections should be determined solely by American citizens.”

The Justice Department revealed on Friday that five individuals—two undocumented immigrants and two lawful non-citizens—have been charged with illegally casting ballots and related offenses during the 2022 and 2024 elections. Some of those charged might face sentences exceeding a decade if convicted.

One of the individuals charged is Katya Rodriguez, a 30-year-old from Mexico living in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Indicted for voting as a non-citizen in the 2024 elections, she faces serious charges including providing false citizenship information to register and vote, potentially leading to a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison and fines.

This federal action comes shortly after New Jersey officials reported a significant software error that mistakenly registered around 6,600 non-citizens to vote, with about 400 actually voting. Additionally, Homeland Security disclosed earlier this summer that an audit of voter rolls found over 250,000 registered non-citizens across just four states: California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada.

Recently uncovered internal directives indicated that HSI has initiated a coordinated effort focused on voter fraud in nine states, including Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The arrests reported on Friday are among the latest steps in this enforcement strategy.

“HSI is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of our election systems and ensuring that allegations of illegal voting and fraudulent registration are thoroughly investigated,” commented HSI Acting Executive Associate Director John A. Condon. He emphasized the importance of public confidence in the electoral process and the accountability of those who seek to violate the law.
